Coach Introduction

Deran Moore — Coach D

Deran Moore, known by players and families as Coach D, is a longtime youth basketball coach with deep roots in player development, mentorship, and competitive basketball. Coach D began his coaching journey learning under Coach Milo Moreland and NBA legend J.R. Rider as an assistant in the legendary Skyrider youth basketball program.

Through those early experiences, Coach D developed a strong foundation in teaching the game, building confidence in young athletes, and creating a competitive team culture. After serving as an assistant, he eventually earned the opportunity to lead his own team within the Skyrider program.

Coach D went on to guide his team to a MADE Hoops 8th Grade Championship, a major accomplishment that reflects his ability to develop players, prepare teams, and compete at a high level. His coaching style is built on discipline, energy, accountability, and a genuine commitment to helping kids grow both on and off the court.

Basketball is also a family foundation for Coach D. His youngest son, Domino Moore, is a Class of 2028 starting guard at Hamilton High School, continuing the Moore family's strong connection to the game.

Coach D continues to use his experience, mentorship background, and family-driven passion for basketball to lead, teach, and inspire the next generation of players.

Our Mission

Build players who are ready for bigger expectations.

The 7th-8th grade mission is to prepare players for school basketball, higher-level competition, and the responsibility that comes with wanting a bigger role.

  • High school readiness.
Players are taught pace, physicality, communication, defensive discipline, and the value of doing their job every possession.
  • Leadership habits.
We expect players to bring energy, encourage teammates, respond to coaching, and take ownership of their preparation.
  • Film and stat accountability.
Performance is reviewed with real feedback so players understand where they are improving and where they need more work.
  • Competitive maturity.
Players learn to handle pressure, play through mistakes, and compete without losing focus or body language.
